The 2D Workshop had the privilege of attending the world premiere of The Mad World of Harvey Kurtzman at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Bursting from the immigrant streets of 1920s Brooklyn, Harvey Kurtzman ignited a creative revolution that reshaped comics, satire and popular culture.

Through rare archives, unseen interviews, handcrafted animation and an original jazz score, the documentary reveals the man who created MAD Magazine and helped redefine American humour and visual storytelling forever.

The 2D Workshop was asked to bring Harvey’s comics to life, joining an amazing team of talented filmmakers to create this unique documentary. The film was directed by Bart Simpson and co-produced by Intuitive Pictures and Aconite Productions, with the legendary Terry Gilliam as Executive Producer alongside Ken Anderson.

The 2D Workshop team included Owen Rixon as Animation Director, Abigail Nawrot as Animation Producer and Anthony Lee as Manager at The 2D Workshop.
